Vehicles Sold & For Sale Now 1964 Triumph TR4

1964 Triumph TR4

$40,500.00
Sold

TITLE: RESTORED 1964 TRIUMPH TR4

VIN: CT31975L

MILES: 94,885

OWNER MILES: 1,500 Miles Since Restoration

HISTORY: This Triumph was a rust-free California car when purchased by the current owner in 1978. Found in Sacramento, CA, it was solid, but suffering from some minor accident damage. The restoration began in 1979 and was one of those long-term projects that was finally completed in 2012. It is numbers matching with the original drive train and restored to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate original specifications. It was a very thorough and meticulous restoration. The only sheet metal replaced was the boot lid and the boot floor pan. In most cases the original parts were refinished rather than buying reproduction. Driven sparingly since 2012 it has accumulated only 1,500 miles in the past 10 years. The owner recently brought it to our shop to get it fully sorted out, and ready for sale.

MODIFICATIONS: .020” over-sized pistons; Electric auxiliary fuel pump; Electric cooling fan; Pertronix distributor; Dayton chrome wire wheels; Emergency bonnet release; Battery box liner; Coco floor mats; Shoulder harnesses.

ISSUES/PROBLEMS: Tires are 11 years old. Speedometer reads 2 MPH slow. Turn signals don’t cancel. Radio inoperable.

RUST: None.

SERVICE RECORDS: Some receipts from the current owner (1979 – 2022) and some receipts from previous owners (1970 – 1978).

LAST SERVICE: August 2022 - Rebuild carburetors, refresh coolant, new Pertronix module, new plugs, new headlight dip switch, adjust valves, set timing.

PAINT/BODY: Excellent condition. Body-off-frame restoration. The car was disassembled, sanded and primed, and reassembled to assure proper fits. Then disassembled again with final paint in single stage to best replicate the original color of Triumph Racing Green (Code 25). The paint is smooth and glossy. The body is straight, true, and solid.

INTERIOR: Excellent condition. The black leather faced seats (Code 11) with white piping are very nice and redone to original specification. The original gauges and instruments have been refurbished and are all working. The optional wood dash was re-veneered and is beautiful. The original banjo steering wheel was refinished. The carpets, door panels, and kick panels were all replaced with materials from Moss Motors.

CHASSIS/ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN: The original Triumph inline 4-cylinder engine was rebuilt early in the restoration process with .020” oversize pistons. The head was refurbished in 2016 with a valve job, new valve guides, and the head was milled. The Stromberg carburetors were also rebuilt. The engine has good compression on all cylinders and good oil pressure. The frame was completely stripped and repainted during the restoration, with all new brake and fuel lines installed. The suspension was totally rebuilt with new bushings, seals, bearings, etc.

WHEELS/TIRES: The painted 15” original 60 spoke wire wheels were replaced with Dayton chrome wire wheels during the restoration and are in excellent condition. New Michelin XZX radial tires were installed in 2011, have lots of tread, but are 11 years old, and should be replaced before any extended highway driving.

OPTIONS: Triumph AM Radio (inop); Tonneau Cover; Wood Dash Facia; Sun Visors; Tool Kit.

INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE: Original VIN Plate; Coco Mats; Custom Car Cover; Triumph Picnic Blanket; Tool Kit; Owner’s Manual; TR4 Workshop Manual; Box w/2 New Hella Horns; Laminated Wood Knock-Off Wrench; New Copper Faced Knock-Off Hammer; New O.E Type Jack & Handle; Scissor Jack; Original Distributor; Oil Filter Cartridge; Brake Master Cylinder; Clutch Master Cylinder; Set of Amber Turn Signal Lenses; Tie Rod End.
